Potential Imminence

One day I will dance among the stars

Float around the moon so far

I will never again need a car

For the sun shall be my brother



I will zip around the Milky Way

When I get tired, anywhere I can stay

Every day is a new day

No longer will I be smothered



Maybe I’ll stop on a wayward planet

Start a fire and proceed to fan it

No one will know, I’m free, I’m candid

On this galaxy like no other



Through space I love to sink and swim

Waiting for the day I drift home again

But resting and thinking, I do till then

Until I meet another



Floating through space might seem quite fun

But it’s getting a little boring, I’m done

I want to go home, to a place where I’m one

In a crowd, I miss being together



Seeing the earth in the distance I begin to wonder

Whether it’s the right thing, or if it’s a blunder

The atmosphere is ripping me asunder

I don’t care; soon I’ll see my mother



As I walk into my old house I find

No one is there, not a person in sight

Alone I am again, in life

The dirt is now my brother
