    Emotional Cycle Empty Emotional Cycle

    A Sad Acronym

What does SADNESS mean to me?

I’ll break it down, it’s quite easy

    S stands for Sorrowful Mate

    A stands for Adequately Late

    D means Deception, too much

    N stands for never enough

    E of course, is ecstasy

S is here to subtract previously

And the last S gets a little personal

To me its salvation, the last hurtle

For after sadness is a new light

Let your eyes dilate, it’s a little bright

Intelligent men know the sayings not true

That “ignorance is bliss” how about you?

If you only ever see what the world shows you, that’s vain

You must learn to follow your heart and your brain

And in the end happiness will come

But that’s another poem, and believe me, it’s hard won

    The Happy Alternative

By the end of sadness you should have guessed

Your emotional body will need some rest

Sit back and enjoy, listen and reflect

For the word HAPPINESS, the puzzle pieces I will connect

H is Harmony, you must be in this

    A is Actually experiencing bliss

P is for People, they help this feeling along

The other P is Personal, learn the difference between right and wrong

I is Intent, it must be pure

N is Noise, you must be sure

For E is Edge, live on it, you will see

The next S means Soul, to live completely free

To sum up this word we reach the final S

And yes it’s not pretty, it ends with sadness

I’ve been there, at the top, happiness was me

And I didn’t know what the end could be

I got there one night, on a Sunday sunset

My soul was free but now it’s upset

But you must remember, though sadness may come

The end of sadness will surprise the greater some

So I vent my pain to a close friend

Try to recapture the P, there can’t be an end

I know that everything is good, so trivial

Life is my soul and emotion is its meal

I like these. Your poetry doesn't have the same dense nature as Rose's but she is more of a poet than any of us right now so that is understandable. The fact that you've dabbled so much in poetry and are willing to post so much here is encouraging in and of itself.

The double poems have a good effect. It gives each their own pace and tone, while letting them convey a bigger message than the immediate topic. You have a talent for finding words to convey your message that fit into your poem. It can be honed through more writing for sure but I think it is a very good start.

What was the inspiration for these two poems?

When I was writing these poems I originally only wrote the Sad Acronym because I was thinking of my break up that was fresh in my mind back then. I was full of emotion when I was writing it but by the end I felt that justice had not been done and the emotional aspect doesnt actually end in sadness so I followed up with a Happy Alternative. Near the end of the happy one I realized that emotions in life tend to travel in an elliptical fashion mainly circling from sadness to happiness with some other emotions in between distorting the perfect circle to an ellipse so I decided to name these two Emotional Cycle. From writing this I realized that there is not reason to be depressed in life even though sadness will definitely come. When you are sad there is always the future to look forward to because you will definitely be happy again and when you are happy then slow down and rejoice your current involvement in life.
There is always something to learn out of every situation so if its a bad one then focus on what you learned and add it to your repertoire for future engagement.
